A new blog post from Brad Smith, Microsoft President & Vice Chair, makes everyone aware of Microsoft’s leadership “role in coordinating with the Ukrainian government, as well as with the European Union, European nations, the U.S. government, NATO and the United Nations, in supporting cybersecurity and fighting misinformation related to the war in Ukraine.”

An 11 January post on the Microsoft Singapore website describes how Microsoft’s “three-dimensional holographic technology,” has been brought to the “NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.” “Holomedicine” technology is being implemented in hospital settings “in Singapore with the aim to enhance patient care.”

Last month (2021 May), Queue Associates Worldwide China, Hong Kong Ltd. participated in the first edition of SHAPERZ, “a two-day virtual event bringing the latest technological innovations to SMEs, scale-ups and corporates.”

Queue’s session was entitled, “Sell smarter with Dynamics 365 Sales”. In a 30-minute presentation, Queue’s team demonstrated Dynamics 365 Sales’ broad capabilities and how the solution addresses the challenges of small and medium-size businesses (SMBs). Queue’s team showed how customers in private and public sector organisations can utilize Dynamics 365 Sales to turn relationships into revenue, as well as orchestrate personalized multi-channel journeys with the related service, Dynamics 365 Marketing. The session also covered other components of the Dynamics 365 suite including empowering teams with streamlined data and complete customer views with Dynamics 365 Customer Service, driving project success and profitability with Dynamics 365 Project Operations, and resolving customer issues the first time, every time with Dynamics 365 Field Service.

Jeffrey Goldstein, Managing Director of Queue Associates Worldwide China, HK, Ltd., contributed a blog post to the US organization, Voices for Innovation (VFI) about initiatives that he has undertaken regarding data privacy for the all of the websites for his companies in different geographies.
In the post, Mr. Goldstein stated that “Microsoft partners — and every tech business — should provide strong privacy protections for their customers.” He continued, indicating that, “companies and customers alike would benefit from a single, unified federal data privacy law. But in the absence of that law [in the United States], we’ll benefit if state laws are closely compatible with each other and with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).”
Mr. Goldstein described the project in which Queue Associates invested to ensure data privacy on the three websites for his different international companies. The companies are based in Greater China, in the United Kingdom — the website for which was to be made to adhere strictly to GDPR — and in the United States. In this effort, for all of the sites for his different companies, he explained that it “made sense for us to seek outside help, so we contracted with a company called, The Data Privacy Group, Ltd. (DPG). When we first hired DPG, they conducted an audit of our websites and other technology. We were shocked to learn the extent to which we were out of compliance—even though we had not neglected privacy or security.”
In the complete VFI post, Mr. Goldstein elaborated on the findings of the Data Privacy Group, and the extensive work undertaken by DPG and Queue Associates to follow laws and guidelines for web and data privacy in multiple countries. This effort is also bolstered by Queue’s recent achievement of ISO 27001 certifications. The companies, in each continent, sought to meet international standards on information security through these ISO certifications for their Microsoft Dynamics and other Microsoft-related initiatives for clients in these three geographies.

ERP Basics
If someone asked you to explain what ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) means, how would you respond? I usually say simply that it’s business management software and that often suffices. Wikipedia, however, does a somewhat better job, saying:
“Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) usually refers to a category of business management software—typically a suite of integrated applications—that an organisation can use to collect, store, manage, and interpret data from many business activities.”
What was there before ERP? Was there just a void? A black hole? No, before ERP, there was Accounting Software, which helped companies manage their most basic needs, namely General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR). ERP was a giant step in business management software and marked the beginning of a digital transformation (DT).
ERP Superpowers
One might think that today’s ERP capabilities, which combine so much functionality into a single integrated system, would be enough. Is it not enough for ERP to encompass finance and operations, along with management programs for Customer Relations Management (CRM), Supply Chain Management (SCM), inventory, warehouse, logistics, human resources, talent acquisition…?
The answer is no. It’s not enough. Because as companies struggle to remain viable, sustainable, and competitive, they need superpowers. And we’re going to look at two (2) ERP superpowers that already exist.
