Last month (2021 May), Queue Associates Worldwide China, Hong Kong Ltd. participated in the first edition of SHAPERZ, “a two-day virtual event bringing the latest technological innovations to SMEs, scale-ups and corporates.”

Jeffrey Goldstein, Managing Director of Queue Associates Worldwide China, HK, Ltd., contributed a blog post to the US organization, Voices for Innovation (VFI) about initiatives that he has undertaken regarding data privacy for the all of the websites for his companies in different geographies.
In the post, Mr. Goldstein stated that “Microsoft partners — and every tech business — should provide strong privacy protections for their customers.” He continued, indicating that, “companies and customers alike would benefit from a single, unified federal data privacy law. But in the absence of that law [in the United States], we’ll benefit if state laws are closely compatible with each other and with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).”
Mr. Goldstein described the project in which Queue Associates invested to ensure data privacy on the three websites for his different international companies. The companies are based in Greater China, in the United Kingdom — the website for which was to be made to adhere strictly to GDPR — and in the United States. In this effort, for all of the sites for his different companies, he explained that it “made sense for us to seek outside help, so we contracted with a company called, The Data Privacy Group, Ltd. (DPG). When we first hired DPG, they conducted an audit of our websites and other technology. We were shocked to learn the extent to which we were out of compliance—even though we had not neglected privacy or security.”
In the complete VFI post, Mr. Goldstein elaborated on the findings of the Data Privacy Group, and the extensive work undertaken by DPG and Queue Associates to follow laws and guidelines for web and data privacy in multiple countries. This effort is also bolstered by Queue’s recent achievement of ISO 27001 certifications. The companies, in each continent, sought to meet international standards on information security through these ISO certifications for their Microsoft Dynamics and other Microsoft-related initiatives for clients in these three geographies.

On 1 April, the Microsoft Hong Kong News Center blog published an article entitled, “Close to 90,000 people in Hong Kong acquire digital skills during COVID-19.” It described that Microsoft “has helped over 30 million people in 249 countries and territories gain access to digital skills, of which close to 90,000 of them are from Hong Kong. This tops its initial goal of 25 million last June.”
Among the major learning and training initiatives delineated, the article went on to indicate, are ones centred around “local flight attendant and pilot unions…” supporting, “over 5,000 aviation workers to attain digital skills certifications”, as well as forming a “Vocational Training Council (VTC)” using Microsoft Learn, which “is now Hong Kong’s first tertiary institution as an authorisation center for Microsoft certifications.”

Additionally, “beyond Hong Kong,” the article stated, “from laid-off factory workers to retail associates and truck drivers, millions of people globally turned to online learning courses from GitHub, LinkedIn and Microsoft during the pandemic to help prepare for and secure the most in-demand roles, including customer service, project management and data analysis.”

Microsoft is contacting you urgently through this post on the website of Queue Associates Worldwide China Ltd. — a Microsoft Gold-certified Partner — to alert you about Microsoft’s release of patches for multiple different on-premises Microsoft Exchange Server zero-day vulnerabilities that are being exploited by a nation-state affiliated group.
The vulnerabilities exist in on-premises Exchange Servers 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2019. Exchange Online is not affected. We wanted to ensure you were aware of the situation and would ask that you help drive immediate remediation steps.
Specifically, to minimise or avoid the impacts of this situation, Microsoft highly recommends that you take immediate action to apply the patches for any on-premises Exchange deployments that you have. The first priority being servers that are accessible from the Internet (e.g., servers publishing Outlook on the web/OWA and ECP).
To patch these vulnerabilities, you should move to the latest Exchange Cumulative Updates and then install the relevant security updates on each Exchange Server.
You can use the Exchange Server Health Checker script, which can be downloaded from GitHub (use the latest release).
Running this script will tell you if you are behind on your on-premises Exchange Server updates (note that the script does not support Exchange Server 2010).
We also recommend that your security team assess whether or not the vulnerabilities were being exploited by using the Indicators of Compromise that we shared here.
